It sounds like the Centennial Mills project is apparently still on track.  It’s not slated to be completed until 2012, but I recently read in the Oregonian that the plans weren’t set aside.

This project is the proposed conversion of a run-down building on the Willamette River at the North End of the Pearl District.  This location is a stone’s throw from both The Encore condominiums and the Waterfront Pearl condominiums.

Centennial Mills BuildingThe plans are to turn this building into a community anchor containing open space, restaurants, green oriented retailers, and a market featuring local produce and live entertainment.  I think part of the hope is that Centennial Mills will be a catalyst for further development along the Willamette, north of the Pearl all the way up to the Pacifica Tower and RiverScape townhome complex.  This area is what some developers and real estate professionals are calling the “Pearl 2.0.”  There are lots of plans for future condo development in this direction, but so far it looks like many of them are on hold,  At least this project still seems to have some life in it.
